Title: All in a day's work.
I'm just going to make this announcement, about the same way I did with GCNrd; discuss my [incomplete] plans for world domination without having any tangible evidence that it will work. At all.

With the psgroove project showing increasing promise, I think it's time to start thinking about hacking PS3 games proper. And doing that requires not just a memory dumper, but a full-fledged debugger suite. Already in the works for some time now is a debugger protocol (SRDP) which will make this project much easier. (Once SRDP is finalized, that is!)

So here it is! The announcement of a debugger project for Playstation 3, which I am currently referring to as s3bug (pronounced "see bug" ... not to be confused with ps3bug, which sounds like a bug in the PS3 itself). Details will follow as I build and experiment with psgroove.

AMBITIOUS,

but,

distracting. I blame you for my tendency to start a bunch of projects at once and never finish any of them.

You're a terrible role model and I hope you get kicked in the 'nads.

Except when I finish them, then it's über amazing. You know this to be true.

Yes, I have a PS3: http://parasyte.kodewerx.org/projects/ps3/Disassembly/

Since I have a PS3, yes I have PSN. Do I use it? Not often. I love that it's free, though. If I ever do want to use it, I can! And I'm not paying for it when I'm not using it. Can't get much better than that!

"System update notice: Enticing pornography has automatically been downloaded to your PlayStation's media folder as a thanks for your continued (dis)use of PlayStation Network."

You're not thinking outside of the $600 box.

This will happen but I have been unable locate a valid PS3 SDK. I'd love it if whats his face (wintermute?) at the devkitpro project would take up PS3, or *somebody* would make a free/open compiler suite for it. Until then, I'll be glad stealing Sony's proprietary garbage (if I can even find it) to get this project off the ground.

[Update: Got the v1.92 leak that has been going around recently. I knew it would resurface after all of the "jailbreak" crap caught on. Funny thing though, I looked for it about two weeks ago and found squat. The internets works in mysterious ways!]

[Update 2: Just found this ... I told you so.]

Dunno!

I will have a better idea of what's possible after I get PSGroove ported to Cypress EZ-USB FX2. I don't have an AVR board, and they are becoming extremely difficult to buy for a reasonable price, thanks to all the fucking script kiddies out there. The FX2 board I have will work just peachy, though, if I just sit down and take the time to do the port.

Hey, my old iPod could come in handy after all. :)

[EDIT] Works great! I've installed a few packages. I'll be diving into LV2 and some other fun stuff in the coming weeks.
