This is all nice and such but the issue here is not about ROMS it is about backing up the real game cart using the GBA/DS MAX. The only person here so far claiming to have done so comes from a guy who never posted before. The bottom line is the MAX does not see the cart in the DS slot at all...being such...one cannot do a backup of their saves. NOW...if somebody has another suggestion in using a third party software with the MAX to get the job done...then please do tell.


Added Note: Nintendo locked the max duo out. They have done this to Pokemon games in the past with cheat devices...and that is what is probably going on now. I am sure...like before...a fix will be forthcoming. I do remember now devices being made specifically for Pokemon games. So I guess I will have to just wait it out for now. ciao

Question: DId the AR duo max convert files into .sav when uncompressing them?

I remember having to do something along the lines of that when using the ACWW map editor. If it does turn them into .sav when uncompressing s sav file. Perhaps someone can provide you with a .sav file that you can compress and turn into .duc. (though it has been awhile so I do not remember things all too well.

No it converted them to .duc But there where save converters.

You can convert them to .sav in an older version

Sorry if I wasnt exaclty clear earlier. I'm using a Gameshark. It was for the GBA and came with an extra piece to make saves for DS games. Not sure exaclty what you guys want to know after hearing that. It's a simple usb plug in. It gots a lil box you stick the card in and makes saves. Pretty much just like the Duo except, I dont put it into the DS. Anything else you want to know just ask. By the way I've got a lot of info from this site. Just want to say thanks to whoever's in charge.


I just went and looked the gamesaves it makes are saved as .GDS I have no idea what that is. If someone wants me to send the save file to them for Pokemon Diamond I gladly will help, just contact me.

ar/gba max never worked for me. i had to send mine back.

I have the Gameshark one as well but is specifically for backing up DS saves. I have yet to figure out how to convert the save to .sav yet. I'm pretty sure it is compressed in some way.

Thanks to all for their help. The bottom line is Nintendo went out of the way to make sure the DUO would not work with yet another Pokemon game. I am sure there will be an answer from Datel yet again on another way to beat Big N...we just have to be patient for those of us using the actual cart and not the ahem...other thing.

YOU modified the pokesave software??? It has been doing this for days now. I did not know you were the developer are you GSD? Good job if you are the developer. Yes Eepinator will work it has been posted earlier in the thread. I have always heard of this software credited to GSD or Nasty?

hey i got the pokesav program but i cant get it on my max duo for starters, half the time my duo will be in usb mode but it will say it isnt connected on the pc. in addition to that i will save my codes as a xml file but then i cant put them in my codelist on the pc rogram. the files just dont show up. im a pc noob but can anyone help?

oh and also with the modifed pokesav program: why s it all in japanese? can you tell me which links to click plz?

yeh but once it is connected how do i get the save i made? i saved it as a xml,sav,and pkmn file and i cant see any of em when i try to manage my codelists.

i can also type in the files but then they dont appear in the codelist

If this is noylt o test codes safely, you should have no problem. They don't tend to affect the save files, just don't save if you're only testing. I find aboslutely no problems with them and they have not done anything to my save file I have not wanted them to. Just don't try putting them all on or something like that, I dunno. I've found it perfectly safe so far, anyway.

no no u dont get it i cant get them to go on my AR at all. i will finish making the code on the program and then ill save it using the ar-ds output code button. but then when i try to get it to use it on the AR rogram it doesnt show up. i cant get the file with the code at all. how do you get it?

I don't think Datel will update anything with the AR GBA/DS Max Duo as far as Pokemon D/P goes, they didn't even update for ACWW I found out about the fix for that from the ACWW map editor page. From what it sounds like the AR Max Duo does not have enough memory to support the Large D/P gamesave, it could be that or it could be another ACWW situation. I don't know what it is but I have been searching since I beat Pearl and wanting to start over without losing my previous save data. at this point it seems I may have to find another backup device for the DS other than the AR Max Duo since Datel has pulled them off the shelves and almost anything to do with their existence as if they never came out so any further update from them is a snowballs chance in Hell at this point. Any recommendations for such a device that will back up saves and its operation at the level of the AR Max Duo (I understand Hacking and what not but Im not a pro so nothing to complex) its either that or I just go and buy Diamond and play that from the start XD (only if there is no hope for me)
