K...The AR was simple to get running after firmware update.

BUT What I really want is to use Dipstar with a rombackup. I can use my cart with AR. Dlongs app made translating the dipstar to ar easy and it worked like a charm, but then I have to carry two extra chips. Poop. I don't want to do that!

I have tried the following methods.

Install

1. Write "dipstar.ds.gba" to the memory card (Using M3game manager).
2. Transfer NDSROM to the memory card (Using M3game manager).
3. Boot M3-Lite.
4. Scroll todipstar from the game menu of M3 and press the A button.
5. Scroll to NDSROM and press the A button.
6. Press the any button with the load screen.

OK, did this it produces white screens of death when game loads but it did load dipstar's dat. file.

So I tried this:

1. Download the DipStar complete package from the M3 / 3rd Party download section
2. Copied dipstar.ds.gba to SD card
3. Copied dipstar.ds.dat from the cheats exchange to subdirectory "GAMESAVE"
4. Drag&drop ROM from the memory card onto m3dip.exe.
5. Put the card into the M3 and turn on the DS
6. Select "dipstar.ds.gba" and press A (nothing will happens just a short blink)
7. Choose the DS game and press A
8. Press A again and _quickly_ press and hold the button for the cheat. Hold the button until the game has loaded.

Still white screens of death.

Now is this because I am using the M3DSS as a pass? I am off to try it with other pass cart and without pass cart at all.

I started this in hopes that I can collect enough data for a decent guide and make this flippin thing work.

Thanks!

Nope none of those. I am trying to boot Izuna. And Inuyasha. As I understand it from the dualscene forum the wifi games don't work???? (I read conflicting information here...like they did at one time but not now or vice versa)

I got past the white screens last night but I still had no cheats in the game. The dipstar file did load with the game and the game worked but nada. I have used the same codes (Translated with dlong's superb app) with the AR with good results.

The only good results were via the first method I described. I had to fiddle with the settings a little in the m3 game manager to get it to not white out when the game came up with the cheat enabled checked in the game manager.

A-I am not sure where the master code goes?
B-I am still new to my DS
C-Hex stuff confuses me. Now Engineering Trig OK, but I can't find good enough guides for MY stupid ass yet...

EDIT - I need the syntax for the cheat txt file the M3Gamemanager will eat...

Thanks again

Solution:

Thanks to XbusterZ and MrHanky for their HUGE contributions to this solution.

The Specifics Step by Step

A. Download dipstar version 061224 (This version supports wifi, roms and sd and minisd cards for M3Lite, Slot2) Install the M3Dip program to your computer.
B. Make sure autosave is ON
C. Copy dipstar onto sd or microsd using M3 game manager Write GBA option.
D. Copy game rom onto card using M3 game mamager.
* Main=No items checked
* Read method=4x dma+force r/w checked
* Rom Trim=No Rom Trim checked
* Cheat code=No items checked
* Linkage=NDS/GBA Linkage Enabled checked
E. Drag and drop game rom onto m3dip.exe, press enter.
F. Start M3Lite via passcard or M3DSS
G. Scroll down and highlight dipstar. Press A.
H. Scroll down to game rom, highlight and press A.
I. Press A once then hold L down immediately afterwards.
J. Insert all codes for game under one slot: [read: button].
K. Master codes go on first lines.
L. After codes are inserted press start to save in dipstar.
M. Turn NDS off then on again.
N. Do steps G, H and I* again.
* At step I hold the button where you input codes instead of L.

Notes:

* Other versions will work well for other cards but the M3Lite with an SD or MiniSD setup requires this solution that includes GBA link.
* Master Code is always input on line 00
* Use txt2dip (included in dipstar download) for cheat files. Syntax= @symbol before any text/description list codes one per line.
* Worked with M3DSS as pass as well as Max Media Loader, Passkey2, etc. This does not seem to have an effect.
* Used No Trim Rom for test game...Some may have to be trimmed still when transfered via game manager.
