Post subject:	Has anyone connected their Wii via USB/Ethernet wired?
I do not have wireless, I got a USB to Ethernet converter to go directly to my router and I can't get online at all, and no posts in the nintendo forums help, mostly wireless problems. I really don't wanna go out and buy the official one if I can get this thing to work.

USB to ethernet? That certainly won't work on Wii: No USB drivers for it which are compatible with Wii. You will need one of: 1) Official Wii Ethernet adapter. 2) WiFi card/USB adapter for your PC with compatible Access Point (AP) software. 3) WiFi-compatible router. Of course, for 2 & 3, you could rip off a connection from a stupid neighbor who hasn't secured their AP... But there you go.
