Ok, I hate sounding like a retard, but I've never used IRC in my life. Everywhere I look, you have to pay for it, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm broke. Is there a free download somewhere for IRC? I use Windows XP on this computer. And if someone wouldn't mind telling me how to create a channel, it would be appreciated, thanks.

Just.. use mIRC. mIRC has a trial period, and once it's done, if you wait 5 seconds at the beginning, it will allow you to continue.

jIRCii is free and simple to use, got it on my laptop.
