I need something with an obscene amount of inputs (digital and analog). I was looking at a Sony with like 4 optical inputs; only thing I've seen so far with that many. I was also wondering if there's any recievers that use a nice on-screen menu (like DVD players/VCRs) for the goddamn settings instead of having to look at that tiny little LCD screen on the reciever. I hate that. I also need dynamic range compression or something. I hate having ot crank the volume way up to hear what people are saying and then getting blasted by the fucking effects. I need some way to amp the voices. Video signal conversion would also be nice. The TV I'm looking at doesn't have composite inputs (only component/s-vid). |

Any compressor would work. I don't see why you would care to do that seeing as most music nowadays is overly compressed. If you want to boost vocals get a 32 band EQ and boost your 1-4Khz frequencies. If you want to get some serious sounding quality try to find a reciever that has AES/EBU inputs as they use balanced cabels to reduce EMI and RFI. Just make sure you have outputs that support it with whatever device you're using. |
