I'd go on but I think we all know where this story is headed.
Now I have the wonderful Mac OSX.
My story is similar! Actually the first "modern" PC I owned was a Compaq (*sigh*) with Windows 98. Some 3 or 4 years later, I had already replaced the entire system at least twice, but still on 98. Of course I was sick of it, so I upgraded to Windows 2000. 2K was a pain in the ass, wouldn't work with my NIC, so I upgraded to XP against my will after having 2K for less than 1 hour. I have since clean-installed XP once, and reinstalled it twice or more. I am not impressed with the Vista betas, so I think my Windows run has, at long last, come to an end.
I bought a 12" Mac PowerBook G4 in March, and love the hell out of it. Windows is still viable as a gaming machine, but even then, I do not play games often. I typically use OS X for everything, even if it was a bit of a bumpy switch, trying to find the right IRC (jIRCii -
http://jirc.hick.org/ - FTMFW) and AIM/MSN/ICQ/YIM/etc. (
http://www.adiumx.com/) clients. And even though OS X's default browser (
Safari) is infinitely better than Internet Explorer, I am still a FireFox fanboy. (Take away my AdBlock and GreaseMonkey, and I will gut you like the fish you are!)
But yes, OS X is truly remarkable. "Wonderful" describes it well.
