I got a 2wire (2701HG-B Gateway). I never saw a problem (Besides me unplugging it). The only other small problem it has a Short radius. I walk about 30 steps from my house and I lose signal (on DS). It is a little better for my laptop, but not much.

Well I have a Linksys WRT54GX2, It cost about 130 bucks, but it has excellent range, and seems not to lock up under heavy networking like the WRT54G. It also has security options like WPA2 with TKIP and AES, built-in firewalls, and MAC filtering.
The router uses MIMO technology, so if you want to take advantage of it, without paying too much for it, you can do that with this router.

LAPTOP Magazine wrote:
In our tests, the WRT54GX2 maintained a 4-Mbps connection at 1,000 feet and managed to stay online at 1,200 feet and beyond at 900 Kbps. That's enough bandwidth to grab e-mails and download files from the Internet, and at a distance that is not just down the hall, but down the block. Close-range throughput of 40 Mbps was excellent.

O_O I had one. The power adapter burnt out on it and it didn't do port forwarding regardless of how i set the settings in the bios/firmware.

I read the first post. But apparently you don't keep your story straight.

Did you actually have that same one, or the WRT54G with all it's problems?

Question, did you ever bother updating the firmware?

?man, I agree, that is one might fine router if you plan on flashing it. :D

No, you had a WRT54G. This is a WRT54GL. They are very different on the inside, even though they look the same on the outside. The bad ones are WRT54G version 5 and 6. The older ones are solid, and the GLs are all solid.

That and the IP caching caused the WRT54G to lock up quickly in V 4,5, and 6.

How about a NON cisco product? I have a great distaste for Linksys and it's parent company. Thanks
