I really need some help here.

I installed XP SP2 onto my girl's laptop earlier in the week. I then updated her IE to 7. When connected to the internet she can get on AIM and everything but when we open IE7 no pages want to load. It keeps comin' up with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". What could be causing this?

Thanks!

LOLOL

On an unrelated note, have you tried accessing pages with another browser (Firefox) or pinging google or some other stable website? Also, maybe try turing the firewall off. The firewall sucks anyway.

No, haven't tried with firefox because my girl doesnt have it on her pc. I'm gonna send her the install file so she can install it, and see if that works. I frickin hate IE. But, if it's none of those problems, what else could it be?

If I send her the install file for firefox, you think she'll be able to get online using that instead of IE7? And just tell her to forget IE7?

IE 7 = Failure
Firefox 2.0 = Slower, 1.0 was faster
Opera = Faster than IE7 and Firefox 2.0

Ok, so I got FireFox to her, and she installed it and she is still getting the same problem. It won't display any webpage. Yet she can still talk online on AIM. If anyone has a clue, please let me know.

Make sure "Work Offline" is not selected under the tools option. Also, check your connection to your access point. Or, alternatively, phone your ISP.

Where do you get Opera? (Besides the Wii) Is it free to download?

Yes Opera is free, search google

@BuckNut:
1. Read Paradox's post
2. Reinstall the OS
3. Contact a local IT professional

qman or someone once told me that AIM does not need a DNS server to connect. Websites, however, obviously do. Perhaps the problem is with DNS?
