AVG has been recommended if a person is under a tight budget.

Spybot or Adware will work for your spyware problem.

avg isnt bad, but its really anoying on startup...it slowed my computer down really badly..it takes a bit for my computer to connect to the internet when it starts, so it took like ten minutes for the stupid updates

I never noticed AVG was a resource hog because after installing it, I stopped using Windows altogether.

Para@ What do you use Para?
Z3RO and DSMAN@ Macaffe is also a resourse hog. that is why i use Stinger for my scanning. It doesnt take 5 hours to scan a 40 GB hd with it.

I don't use a virus scanner. I do use Spybot, that's all. I'm just carefull with what I do and I rarely have problems.

Para uses a Mac with OS X. I use Ubuntu 6.10. This makes antivirus completely unnecessary.
