Post subject: | Touchpad Problem! |
I use a laptop most of the time. My mouse pointer keeps on jumping all over my screen even when i am not touching the pad. I have gone into the settings in XP and changed it so that when i type the mouse doesnt mess up my composition. IT IS NOT WORKING. I am pissed and tired of this happening. I pulled out my pocket knife and 2 LB rubber mallet and was about to go after my touch pad when i realized that i would not have a functioning laptop if i did this. Please thanksjumpingfrommousethepreventingHelp |

Maybe you have crud between the inset touchpad and the plastic. That's happened to DS touchscreens, causing the same problem. |

This is a TOUCH PAD. The Default mouse on a laptop. Not a touch screen! PS Somebody Please move this before I piss some Mod or Admin off with my utterly stupid mistake! Thanks |

Crud could still get wedged between the pad and the plastic. |

True yet this issue was happening when it was brand new! I also have the issue on other laptops with touchpads. I also have cleaned the bottom of the pad and had it replaced when my motherboard burnt out. EDIT: Thank you for moving this! (n_n) |

Laptop touchpads use electrical contact to work. Dirt will not activate it, only things that conduct electricity (like your fingers, or pieces of metal) will move it. Does your machine have a trackpoint as well as the touchpad? Trackpoints have this nasty habit of breaking and moving uncontrollably. |

Nope just a touchpad. Thank you for explaining how the tough pad works. |
