I spent a little while earlier trying to hex edit my Dawn of Sorrows save, since apparently there's no cap on how strong an effect can be actually set. (Example: If you have over 9 Buer souls, you'll get more than 6 fireballs surrounding you.)

However, it wouldn't allow me to run a edited save. Any ways around this?

You need to locate the CRC(s) and modify them to coincide with your changes. On NDS, the most common CRC algorithm will be CRC16. The polynomial is 0x8005 with reflection in and out.

Locating the CRCs seems like it's going to be difficult (Arcane and I can't figure it out ourselves; loading a game and saving immediately changed a whole 15 bytes between the saves). Even if we do locate the CRCs, how do we locate the blocks of data used in the calculations? What do we do if the CRC is included in its own calculation? Assuming that's a possibility...

Some games use encrypted saves for some silly reason.
