OK, I don't know how many people here actually use SoftICE, but I'll ask anyway. I installed it, then I go to START > PROGRAMS > NUMEGA SOFTICE... > SOFTICE > START SOFTICE a cmd window pops up and when it goes away, I have lost control of the mouse and keyboard. All I can do is press Ctrl+D to bring up softICE, then I lose control of the keyboard, too.

I can't exactly contact customer support, because I am not a "customer", and I've googled all over the place. I can't even find something close to what happend to me. I am running Windows XP SP2...

Thanks!

Ok, one problem fixed! now I can start it without deactivating mouse and keyboard. Unfortunately, when I hit Ctrl+D, the screen becomes completely screwed up, and the mouse and keyboard stop then.

SoftICE is archaic. These days, we use IDA Pro and OllyDBG.

SoftICE is a kernel mode debugger. This could interfere with several other programs you may have running.

IDA Pro is great. I've used it before, and I love it, but it I can't find some SoftICE-like features that I want to use, such as the "see what called this function" I believe the hotkey was F11. Very useful for "my purpouses"... :)
