Welp, it turns out re-CAPTCHA sucks. It was good while it lasted! I was sick of getting 50 new spambot registrations per day, so I decided it was time to change the anti-spambot settings on the forum. I switched over to the Q&A plugin, and briefly had a period where the questions were too easy for some contextual searches. I fixed that by using only questions that most humans can figure out right away, while even relatively good AI will have some trouble. These come in the form of "fill in the blank" questions where context is implied, rather than part of the question itself.

For the three days it has been active, we've had zero spambot registrations. It's still too early to declare victory, but it's certainly a step in the right direction! If anyone can come up with more good questions, feel free to post them here (without the answers for obvious reasons). I'd be interested in hearing what others can come up with.

I've used this plugin on a couple forums. Catches the majority of spammers up with stopforumspam's database. The ones it doesn't catch end up getting caught with Akismet.
