I should probably mention that I could only copy certain pieces of the death routine of battle mode for my "Kill racers in racing mode" code for DKR. So, in order to get it to have the full effect of killing off a character, I have it warp the character off of the map. Lazy, yes, but it works...except that the 2 and 3 that appear over the head of the respective racers, once "dead", will still be visible...and because they're so far off of the map, those numbers will be scaled to a rather large size and reach into the course. It looks pretty crappy :(

Perhaps I can trace a read of players' positions and kill off the numbers when a player is dead. I wonder why I didn't think of that before...

Can anyone find the Walk Through Walls code for SM 64 for me? I want to see how it works because I can't even find the reads of X, Y, Z position that are related to clipping...

I figure this question goes here since I want to hack the "unhackable" WTW without dying code.

Does pretty much the same thing, except the game no longer freezes when you try to go through a wall. That 1000 apparently is causing an infinite loop. Silly goose who made the code did a damn good job of finding the routine at 0x800380Dxx (I couldn't get on its trail :\) but he added that third line and made the code hostile >_<

Maybe he meant to make that a never branch instead of an always branch? I might try keeping the third line and using "2400" instead...

Edit: No, he certainly didn't mean to place a 2400 there. That makes Mario unable to move without jumping by making him always act like he's pushing into a wall. Perhaps instead of altering the branch, which apparently causes trouble, we should NOP the X/Y writes that follow the branch (assuming that's what's causing Mario to be immobile).

Mario isn't dying on mine...the game just freezes. That last line is definitely the cause.

I was gonna just read the disassembly and see what it's doing to Mario when it sends him into the sidle animation, but going from

leads to a "JR RA" and I don't feel like tracing it right now :/

It depends on the emulator. In Nemu, Mario dies. In Mupen, the game hangs.

There's another instruction that blocks Mario on certain walls (like the one on the ends of the castle bridge) ... patching that allows mario to go through the wall, where he instantly lands in the water. This suggests to me that the game is repositioning Mario's Y axis to locate the ground. (This seems valid, since he was in fact walking at the time he went through the wall, when the ground disappeared.) That could have something to do with killing Mario in a shitty emulator, and hanging in a decent one when walking through a wall and there is no ground to be located.

Does that code work in Nemu? I'm still getting nasty hangs. What exactly are each of those routines doing, anyhow?

There's lots of inefficient ways to throw yourself out of the map, and in those cases Mario will die regardless of the emulator (at least, I think so). Perhaps if we get rid of that damned death barrier we can make shit work?

Yes. Modifying the Jesus Mode code can do this. Although that code should work unmodified, even outside of the map. Since the water level is static, the code should always place the "ground" at water level infinitely along the X and Z axes.

However, using Jesus Mode, the improved Walk Up Hills code, and the Walk Through Walls code, the game still hangs when you walk into the void from the full lake ("south" of the castle). So it beats the hell out of me.

Also, you cannot go through walls while jumping. The clipping still occurs then.

It seems the issue here is that there are very many clipping routines and not enough of them being taken down. I couldn't even find just one of them on my own...

Is it possible that the writes that I've nop'd that force Mario to walk in a straight line parallel to an axis are occurring just after the clipping adjustment of the position's value? That leaves so much code to scour through to find all the clipping crap.

If you just force your X, Y, Z to all be impossible values, the game stops using the values altogether or something. Mario becomes able to move around normally with no regard to the crummy values. After you walk around long enough he'll eventually warp to the position you set and die from leaving the map.

Perhaps copying Mario's X and Y speed, multiplying it by enough to acquire a position on the other side of a wall you're running towards, and forcing the game to constantly write the new position until you release the activator button would allow Mario to eventually go through the damned wall, after which you'd only need to make the bowser face mask stop covering the screen and have Mario stop dying.

That sounds like a really crummy way to go through a wall but I really want a WTW code that lets you get out of the map regardless of how it works. :\ Killing the death barrier would be desirable too.

Edit: I set a write to X position to always input the X position I wanted instead and latched onto a tree. It tossed me out of the map every time but I still get killed. Need to turn off that damn death barrier so we can use "Is holding tree" thing to go through walls...

You mean apart from games that have them programmed already? (Super Smash Bros. for example.) You can use the "on ground" variable in some games to do that. Rayman 2 is a good one to test this idea... The variable is already available in the Moon Jump code, set to 'no' so Rayman will begin to rise immediately. If you set it to 'yes' you will be able to run and jump while in the air, even with gravity still in effect.

That's typically how I make that sort of code for a gameboy game, but I imagine some games would require you to alter a branch in a Z position read to either be a 0x1000 type or a 0x2400 type.

I'm a bit stumped on how to make an aimbot for a game that doesn't already have its own; any clue on how to do that? Would it require a custom trig routine?

Are there actual opcodes for it? I haven't seen any. I was under the impression that it used some table of pre-calculated values.

Consoles with FPUs use floats, and thus FPU instructions to mathematically alter them. Consoles without FPUs typically use some sort of fixed point mathematics instead, which allows the use of the standard arithmetic instructions.

DAMMIT! I fucking hate PJ64!! No matter what method I come up with to work around the TLB and dynamic assembly locations on Goldeneye, nothing I test in Nemu works on PJ64 because of the fucking dynamic recompiler shit!

At least I'm getting another N64 soon. Maybe I can get something to work on the console, at least....assuming I can even get a hold of a working shark.

Holy fucking shit! I done it! All this time I've been trying to workaround the TLB to change two opcodes at the start of a routine at 7F0027C8 (TLB address). I never realized there was pointers to that exact routine. LMAO!!! I changed the pointers so they hop to my own routine, it sets the vars, and hops back to the TLB address just past the normal reg setting.
