Interesting, but expect this to be blocked in future Wii system updates! They use an exploit that I havent heard of, but it's certainly a patchable exploit. Wii AR |

The exploit is LetterBomb: http://please.hackmii.com/ edit: Also, Nintendo hasn't patched Wii since 4.3- that was 2 years ago next month. It would be interesting to see them do it now since it would be pretty clearly aimed at AR Wii. |

I can't decide if this would be worth it to buy, because I bought the Gamecube action replay that's compatible with Wii, and you can't add any new codes. What the fuck were they thinking? |

You can add codes to this one. Or at least you can get new ones from their site. Nintendo announced at E3 that they have updates still to come for the Wii- they will almost certainly patch the letterBomb exploit that Wii AR is using now. If anyone's interested, the codetypes for WiiAR are the same as AR DS. (as far as I could tell) I'm not really sure why someone who has Homebrew channel would buy Wii AR though. |

Yeah, I'd just have it to have it. Anyway, another thing I never understood was why Gamecube and Action Replay GBA cheats were encrypted. Is there a particular reason for that? |

It was encrypted to bust balls in plain English. They claimed they wanted to protect their work from code stealing. Come on now...it is fact that third party hackers have made more codes and I might add more interesting codes than Datel or Interact did. The reason is simple. Time. Time is money. They had little time to spend on a game before moving on to the next one. Schedules, timelines, milestones....terms of business. Third party hackers have little if any of this to contend with. heh...maybe you were not around then but this GBA encryption thing found many of this group and the old GSC breaking the encryption which resulted in Interact dropping hosting of GSC which we arranged. John Hayes and his brother Todd where not tolerant of the "rebellion" and cut us off. They owned Interact and Rocket Games. Code Boy, aka Bill Kaufman was good to us in that he gave us many samples to try and test. With this "treason" came the great cutback of free samples. I still miss those days of N64 hacking....sigh. Bill thought too how silly the encryption was. Hell I still remember and have a Dream Cast Game shark that used unencrypted codes. That too was later encrypted but was hacked by Code Master and others straight away. Those were some times...now I sit here with old Ben Kenobi and listen to glory days on the radio. |
