Not the kiosk, the demo.

It seems it's the only nds rom that will fucking load on the piece of shit Games n Music. But

I was curious what the exact ndstool code would be. I used the original dos command to extract the file:

Code:
ndstool -x MarioKart_demo.nds -9 arm9.bin -7 arm7.bin -y9 y9.bin -y7 y7.bin -d data -y overlay -t banner.bin -h header.bin

But am I forgetting something? When it's extracted all I get is the old bin files, and can't get it to unpack any carc files. And I wanna replace the boring Figure 8 and SNES Mario Circuit tracks with a track from the MKDS Rom, or the Kiosk.

Because the Demo you point to us is empty...
There's nothing in...
Why do you think else it's 3MB???

Well I was just curious if anyone could tell me if the courses were some how embedded within one of the bin files that were extracted from the demo, and could some how be edited to a different course from the original MKDS ROM.

The reason it is 3MB is because it is probably the Kiosk Demo. (The one they let you download from those Kiosks at Gamestop, etc a long time ago) In which case all you would get is bin files since under WMB (Wireless Multi(?) Boot) there can't be a file system. Everything is in the bin files.

So, you think there is no possible way to change the two courses that run through these bin files.

Thanks for linking to the obvious.

I'm a few steps ahead of extracting the rom, if you wanna be smart, answer the damn question I posted at the top.

Sure it is possible to change the courses in the file. But it won't be easy. Since everything is in the BIN files you will need to figure out how to read these files and correctly modify them. There are no tools that will do this for you.

Best grab a good Hex Editor.

You asked to extract it. I just basically told you how. DSLazy comes with a GUI for extracting it. All you have to do is open it up, browse to the ROM, and click unpack.

Did you ever tried to do it yourself???
I did...
When I did, I've used the same code as always in NDSTool...
Results, empty directories, only y7.bin, y9.bin, arm7.bin, arm9.bin, banner.bin and header.bin...

-_-;;;;

Okay

I know how to open it up, I've already did, and I didn't find what I was looking for. I asked if there was another line I should add to the dos command code TO open this rom to get more out of it, but all codes are the same to extract the rom.

I've known this from the point since I posted the thread, but it's not opening the rom I need help with. It's editing what's extracted from it.

Like I've said before, there is nothing...

You need to use a hex editor to edit the files. The file formats are not reverse engineered, so there are no tools for specifically working with a lot of the files and filetypes.
