I want to make gameshark codes into gamegenie codes for the original gameboy but there is no such program for doing this that I know of.

I have a broken computer. Do I have a choice, or will I have to buy new patrs?

On a more serious note, I haven't seen a tool like that.

How would I know?

No there isn't and will never be a converter. The GB GG only injects single bytes into a ROM read whereas the GB GS only pokes values into RAM. They use two totally different methods.

Good, I need to tell him how much I admire his work on GSC. Transforming it from a code hacking website into a comedy website was a brilliant move. It's my favorite comedy website, in fact, just barely beating out conservapedia.

For the record, you can convert Gameshark codes to Game Genie codes, but it quintuples the line length and the process is game-specific. It's not really feasible on all games, but in my experience, most Game Boy games have this nice spot in the controller input routine you can patch into with no noticeable side effects. You simply put a ld a,xx and ld (xxxx),a in there. (You can even get away with 4 lines if your code is writing to FFxx, since there's that nice ld (FFxx),a instruction.)

I bet I could write a program that does it automatically. I probably won't, though.

Also, no, you can not convert Genie codes to Shark codes. You can convert them to Codebreaker codes, though, which is capable of both RAM and ROM patching. It uses a bank check instead of a value check though so you may not get quite the same effect.

The code can almost certainly be made. However, a conversion for GS to GG cannot be automated. It would have to be done manually. I know HH is familiar with Z80 assembly, so he might be able to make the code if he has time. If I get time I might look at it as well, but I know absolutely nothing about Z80, so no guarantees there.
