Post subject:  GCNrd / GCNrdGUI

I've posted on some other boards and searched around quite a bit and can't seem to find the answer anywhere, so someone suggested posting here since Parasyte wrote GCNrd. I've gotten GCNrd and the GUI working and it's been a great tool. When I try to use the AR Manager feaures of the GUI (sending codes), I get a red exception screen that I think is an AR exception screen.

Do the AR Manager features of GCNrdGUI work with AR version 1.14A?

When you send a code title, make sure you are in the "enter code title" screen on the AR. The same logic goes for game title and the code itself.
Also make sure the code is encrypted.

When I try to send code title, I am in the "virtual keyboard" screen for entering the title. Same thing for entering in the code. All of the "send" functions caused the same error. I expected the "send" functions to be a simple surrogate for "typing" on the virtual keyboard. I did not expect it to insert the code/name regardless of the screen I was in. So I think I am doing the right thing. Any other suggestions? Has anybody used the AR Manager functions of GNrdGUI with the latest version of AR (v1.14A)?

I have heard similar issues with AR v1.14A, but since I do not own a copy nor do I have an ISO dump, it is unlikely that I will be able to help. In any case, Kenobi wrote the GUI, and it has probably been long enough since he has worked on it that he may not be able to help either. My only question at this point: Are you using GCNrd v1.10b, or v1.00b? The GUI for v1.10b should theoretically support all AR versions, including any future versions which may become available.

Last time I tried, that feature didn't work with my AR v1.13 either. I can get a dump of it if you want.

We already have AR v1.13 and v1.14, but not v1.14A (going by the version given by holding the Z button, NOT what is printed on the game disc!) If you do have a different version, or you are just unsure or want to verify it, here are the instructions for making a proper AR dump using GCNrd:

Quote:
1) Run "debuglog.cmd" which is available in debug.zip
2) Load loader.dol manually (do not use the GUI)
3) Insert your AR disc and allow the disc info screen to appear
4) Once the disc info screen says, "awaiting network command," start gcnrd.exe and send the following command: dump arvXXX.bin 80003100 80600000 (where "XXX" is the version number, such as "106" for AR v1.06)
5) Close debuglog.cmd.
6) Add debug.log and arvXXX.bin to a zip file, and send it to me ASAP. I will be on IRC - irc.sorcery.net, #kodewerx. My auto-accept is always enabled. (Send to "Parasyte") For email, just ask in a private message.

There's a difference between downloading a game for hacking and downloading a game for piracy.

Also, he already owns the product. This is just another version.

Actually, I own two different versions of the product. But that is beside the point; I cannot hack it without having something to hack.

If I had an AR, do must I dump the copy of GCNrd on AR or is there an other way to connect the GCN with PC?

Currently, the best method of connecting your GCN to your PC is with:
1) a GCN Broadband adapter (About $35 USD from http://store.nintendo.com/ )
2) a GCN SD adapter ( http://www.playasia.com/ lists them, but I do not know if they have any in stock... they are fairly easy to build, if you know anyone with simple electronics experience who is willing to build one for you)
3) an Action Replay disc
4) a copy of SD Loader ( http://www.gcdev.com/download/sdload.zip - please read the manual carefully)

You can either put the GCNrd .dol file directly onto your SD card, or upload it to the GCN using the PSOloader program. Some other code launching methods include Samson's bootloader (Specific AR version required, hacked GCN memory card required, etc.) or the PSO methods ("Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II" required (PLUS version not supported) and PSOloader or PSUL programs... Takes approximately 2 minutes to boot, every time.)

I think, I see a feature of AR, what I didn't know.
ISO (ROMS) on my GCN, is it true?
Then maybe can I wait when the AR for GCN is avaible here.

And now I must think about the options.
I have already a SD card.
