My school uses Turnitin.com to check our papers and essays and everything like that for plagiarism. I wanted to know if there was a way to get little or no plagiarism detected. Besides doing the paper myself for you smart asses out there. |

If you know what computer they'd use to check it you could set that computer to redirect them to a lookalike page that always says it's okay. Though I don't know how to do it, that idea and a how-to was posted here some time. I think it was Modman that posted about it for some other "hacking" purpose. |

Run the paper through babelfish, translating it into another language. Then run it through again translating it back to English. Read the paper and fix anything that doesn't make sense. P.S. Plagiarism is bad. |

You can use multibabel to make the English obfuscation steps a bit easier. The more you mangle it, the less it will make sense, and the harder it will be to correct into proper English. And yeah, plagiarism is bad. But I think attempting to detect it is even worse. |

And yeah, plagiarism is bad. But I think attempting to detect it is even worse. I guess if you were really paranoid you could: 1)run it through a translator 2)translate it back 3)repeat 1-2 as much as you like that way it wont get really really mangled since you'll be fixing it after each run through. |

Uh, why, in the first place, would you be dumb enough to copy an entire fucking essay? I can imagine in real life you're not such a bright person. The teachers will know, and they'll get you whether that site rats you out or not. My tip to you: if you're going to copy, change it around a bit. Copying an entire essay is just... pathetic. |

I'm an English major, and I can tell you from experience that it doesn't matter how they screen your essays for plagarism. If you're known for having poor grades & a poor history of getting your assignments done right, they'll know you cheated regardless. You might actually consider doing the work you were assigned, instead of looking around for cut-and-paste solutions. |

If you're going to rip off your content, at least rewrite it yourself. Cut and paste papers are bad, mmkay? |

Edit the hosts file on the PC they use to do that. If it's running on Windows, that is. |

Wouldn't running it through a translator twice and fixing/trying to understand the terrible grammar it creates be more work than actually doing the assignment? |

I always wondered how plagiarism checking sites worked, do they run through a search engine searching small strings to find hits and then compare? I wonder if you could break the system by google bombing your paper to the top and basically saying that you like to publish your papers when you finish them and see if you can use that as an excuse. Honestly I think the method of machine checking papers for plagiarism is ludicrous as there are only so many ways you can write the english language, there are bound to random unexplained re-occurances extremely often. K-12 instructors have reached an all time laziness... |
