Those are all hacked by me, just enough to get people started on the game. 2 more code for the Main Character's Stats, but dunno know what they're called, but you should have more turns to attack 2212C066 00000009 (=20) 2212C07C 00000095 (=149) That's all the codes from me. I'll let the Pros will be taken over |

I was bored and messing around a bit with some codes, and activating Max/Inf HP, Max/Inf MP, Quick level up, and Max stats get a white screen. Just giving those a heads up. Also, are codes individually supposed to create graphics glitch? Especially the Max Stats code, it starts flashing a white bar near the top of the bottom screen. I think it also slows down the game a bit, unless that was more than just one code on at a time. |

Unfortunatly, all these C... code type reduce greatly the speed of the game(s) (you can tell it by hearing the music of the game. It slows down a lot when codes are enabled.). It can also make it crash. This C... code type is evil, especially when you know the AR code handler is executed like hundreds of time per seconds. One way to reduce the slowdown to 'almost not noticeable' is to put all the codes in one : Codes for all characters (hp/mp/quick lvl up/max stats) : A212C080 00000000 C0000000 00000017 0212C094 03E703E7 0212C098 03E703E7 2212C07B 00000063 2212C07C 000000FF 0212C09C 270F270F 0212C0A0 270F270F DC000000 0000011C D2000000 00000000 Note that with this single code, the AR actually executes at least 24 * 7 = 168 lines of codes each time it is executed ! (with the original codes, it was at least 288 lines of codes executed). One other way would be do to that : B23FDFFC 00000000 0212C094 03E703E7 0212C098 03E703E7 2212C07B 00000063 2212C07C 000000FF 0212C09C 270F270F 0212C0A0 270F270F D2000000 00000000 D9000000 023FDFFC D4000000 0000011C D6000000 023FDFFC 523FDFFC 00001AA0 023FDFF8 00000000 D2000000 00000000 With this code, a custom offset is used (at 0x023FDFFC). It is increased each time the code handler is executed. Means the codes for P1 will be used when the AR code handler is executed the first time, then the codes for P2, then P3... And when the last player's codes have been written, it goes back to P1. That way each time the AR code handler is reached, it executes at least 14 lines of code (ie. takes 12~20 less times than with using the C code type). The other way would be to : a) use asm hacks (it'll be compatible with everything, and would have no impact on the game speed - but it's also very dangerous, as it can have unwanted side effects (like affecting the monsters, not affecting the npcs...)). b) use custom asm routines. Also, for the all Jobs Mastered, you can use some trick to reduce its size (it'll also reduce its time to execute, but it'll still be very big, ie. it'll still slow down the music a lot) : You must know that reading the ARM7 bios (0x00000000~0x00003FFC) from the ARM7 (which works for the AR, as it hooks the ARM7) returns 0xFFFFFFFF. So if you copy bytes from the 0x00000000 area to any address, it'll actually fill it with 0xFFs. Do not try this on ARM9, it'll crash. Moreover, there is no need to constant write there, better add a 'press start+select to...' activator (else the music is frozen), and make it that the codes are one executed once per key press (else it can still crash the game if the code is activated when changing screens). And finally, you forgot the last character. So I guess you can use that (or an asm hack/custom asm routine) : 94000130 FC0003FF 023FDFF0 00000000 D2000000 00000000 94000130 FFF30000 923FDFF0 00000000 023FDFF0 00000001 F212C0E8 00000094 F212C204 00000094 F212C320 00000094 F212C43C 00000094 F212C558 00000094 F212C674 00000094 F212C790 00000094 F212C8AC 00000094 F212C9C8 00000094 F212CAE4 00000094 F212CC00 00000094 F212CD1C 00000094 F212CE38 00000094 F212CF54 00000094 F212D070 00000094 F212D18C 00000094 F212D2A8 00000094 F212D3C4 00000094 F212D4E0 00000094 F212D5FC 00000094 F212D718 00000094 F212D834 00000094 F212D950 00000094 F212DA6C 00000094 D2000000 00000000 And same for the items code, you should use an activator for it, because it slows down the game too much (freeze the music, and can still crash the game if the code is activated when changing screens). (use an 'execute the codes only once per key press' activator, like this : 94000130 FC0003FF 023FDFF0 00000000 D2000000 00000000 94000130 FFF30000 923FDFF0 00000000 023FDFF0 00000001 ... // put the inventory codes here D2000000 00000000) |

thanks for the info kenobi, the thing is, it doesn't crash with no$gba or ideas :/ dunno why. |

Of course the DS emus don't have any problem, they don't emulate the clock cycles the AR (or CBDS) take. And I doubt they ever will... If, for exemple, one enables your code for all the characters (hp/mp/quick lvl up/max stats), that is like 288 lines of codes are enabled. Now let's say each line of code takes like 100 cycles (and that is likely to be more), that means at least 28800 cycles are used by the AR each time it is executed. Now, it depends of the hook, but it seems for FFTA2 the AR code handler is executed 300+ times/seconds (just set up a counter and see it change with the TT software). The DS updates its frames 59.8 times per seconds. So basically, during one frame, the AR code handler is executed at least 5 times. Which means it makes the ARM7 'loose' 144000 cycles (~65 lines, one line being 2130 cycles) per frame. That's huge. And I guess that explains the slowdowns/freezings. To discover the side effects of codes, you should either try them on a real NDS, or maybe paste the code handler in the roms/emus. But using the emus only is really not a good thing (that reminds me when people could use code to write to ROM on gba emus. They didn't understood why people were complaining their codes weren't working on the real stuff...) :/ |

codebreaker doesn't seems to have these "slowdowns" problems, the max hp for all digimon code that i did for digimon world 2 for example, ards users complained that the game was loading slower, but this doesn't happen with cbds (no one said that, even CMX tested the codes)... i guess this is an ards flaw or something. but anyway, from now on, i'll use a joker for these BIG slide codes XD anyway, i'll asm hack the infinite hp and mp codes later... so it should be "less" resource eater, making the game run in the normal speed. Well about the digimon world 2 slowdowns, I guess that not only the CBDS executes that code faster than the ARDS (I mean, it has a specific code for fill & slide, so it must be way faster than the ARDS C... code type), but the CBDS code handler might also be executed less often than the ARDS code handler (I'll check on that later on). Anyway yeah, using activators (either to make the codes execute only once per key press - or set up a counter and make the codes be executed only once each 0xFF times the ARDS code handler is encountered, for codes that need to always be on) is one good way to solve that matter on the ARDS. That or using asm hacks. |

i am extremely interested in the Character/Race/Job mod codes could someone try to put them together like "Select + UP = All Human" and "Select + Right = All Nu Mou" etc. ? and maybe "Select + Start = Back to Normal" meaning whatever they were before you started messing around (or is that one impossible?) oh and a list of Digits for each Race/Job would be cool too or what'd be perfect would be a code like that "Level 1" code i found... umm... somewhere..... just highlight a unit and push Start + Select and BAM! level 1!, but y'know for jobs instead 921D7022 00000212 94000130 000003F3 B21D7020 00000000 1000001A 00000001 D2000000 00000000 |
