Post subject:  Is this theoretically possible?

I'm sorry if this is not in the right place, but I do not know where exactly this topic fits (Move it if necessary, sorry). Is there something, or is it even possible, to take a memory dump of my shiny new Pokemon Heart Gold and somehow translate this into pokesav compatible format? If you knew which memory addresses represented the corresponding pokesav values, I would think it would be possible to recover this data from the dump... has anyone tried this? If not, I might give it a go, but I don't want to waste time without asking. Thanks.

I'm not sure what data pokesav expects, but the name suggests that it wants the EEPROM/SRAM/Flash "backup" data, rather than system RAM.

AR can save and restore the backup data stored on NDS cards. This is probably what you want -- and it's the easiest way to get at that data at the consumer level. (In contrast, I've created my own hardware and control-software that can do the same thing, but that's beyond the capabilities of most people.)

So give AR a try, maybe? "AR DSi" *cough* can copy the data to/from a microSD.
