You probably had 3.03, I have 3.4, I can't seem to find a downgrader...

3.4 is un-downgradable at the moment. Is it a new psp, and did it come with that version?

Yeah, it came with it new, shit. Looks like I'll have wait...

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

Apparently the new PSPs are totally un-downgradable, even if an exploit is found. The motherboard has less power to flash to the chip or something.

The guy who did the last exploit I know of, NOPx86, isn't doing anything with his PSP anymore. He's messing with a 360 and won't let me go over and play Dead Rising. :(

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

No, its not that new... It doesn't have the type of motherboard that can't be downgraded.

to plat homebrew. i read that the new psps disabled the downgrade function.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

The reason people downgrade their PSP is so they can run homebrew(which includes iso/cso loading). Of course Sony is going to 'disable' downgrading, they don't want their games to be pirated. I know up to 3.03 is downgrade-able, but after that I don't know. PM me if you want more information.

If your PSP can play ISOs, can't you play like... Gamecube games on there?
I'm sure someone has done a Gamecube emulator for it

You can play PS One ISOs? Without the downgrade? Because I know they added an emulator recently, so the games just need to be in iso format.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

There is a program that allows you to convert your ps1 ISOs to an EBOOT.PBP file that the PSP can open. I don't know if this works on the newer firmwares.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

I'm not sure, either... I checked up on it and it appears that you need custom firmware for any old ISO. Nicky, can you really play any old ISO file converted? Do you have custom firmware or the official firmware.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

Yeah, I just looked it up, apparently DAX's custom firmware is required.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

Any custom firmware appparently works just depends on how you convert it. I want to get custom firmware, but my friggin' psp is too new. Goddamn sony and their homebrew hating ways.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

Wait, the motherboard isn't capable of flashing the chip? Then they won't be able to force updates either.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

Maybe they have only disabled flashing to certain pages of the firmware? They can still update other code, but if this is the case you can't entirely overwrite it with a custom/older firmware.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

I don't remember what the TA-82 and TA-86 had different in them, but Sony made it a lot harder to downgrade, somehow. I do know that both are downgradable(up to a certain firmware version) now.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

someone will eventually create a downgrader...

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

They must first find an exploit in the firmware, so it's possible one will not be made for a very long time.

Post subject:  Re: PSP Downgrading

I had read somewhere, (Or am I mistaken?) that there is even a way to run some code on 2.0? Any truth to that lemma? My guess is if they made downgrading "harder" on the new motherboards, is what Sony really did is add some new flash protection, so it would take longer to flash it. Its really just more of a small change to slow down hackers rather then to totally redesign what flash pages can be changed. They wouldn't stop whole pages from change because then if there was a serious bug, they'd be fucked. I know the old 83 + had only one flash page that couldn't be changed. It was only a small amount of code that allowed you to get a new OS if you lost yours in a bad crash. It took them almost a year to make sure it was completely bug-free. I doubt Sony would do something so drastic, seeing as how most newer downgraders can do both motherboards now. They probably just added some new hardware ports to protect internal flash.
