Or even just started using a different flash chip whose write sequence is different. I think even Nintendo's done this, as my DS Lite refuses to flash.

Of course there's nothing they can do to stop you from opening the system and flashing the chip itself, if you're willing to solder.

They usually just change the hardware a bit, so its different, not impossible.

Okay, I recently solved this problem by buying a new PSP about a week and a half ago to this post. However, I realize that people browsing this forum from elsewhere may also have the same question. On June 23, of this year (2007) it was posted on psp-hacks as well as some other sites that an exploit was discovered in the Lumines, and homebrew could be run. In the future, a downgrader will be release. Please note this exploit works for all remaining firmwares (3.10, 3.30, 3.40 and 3.50) So, it is likely that there will be a downgrader for all of those who upgraded. I suggest you buy a copy of Lumines quickly, the game may be patched soon (its not at the time of this posting, check the post date). Check out the article on qj: http://pspupdates.qj.net/tags/downgrader/814

Even better, now there's a downgrader for 3.5. Find it almost anywhere .

Pandora is out. Allows to "transform" any battery (even some unoficial ones) into a "jigkick" (ie. "special battery" used by sony to reprogram any PSP). With that, and a special piece of software written to a memory stick, you can (unbrick any software bricked PSP and) downgrade any PSP to 1.50... And then upgrade to any custom firmware !

That is pretty amazing. Good news, except you have to have a custom firmware or 1.5 to run the program

I know you guys won't believe this, but after 2 years I finally re-purchased a psp. I decided to buy used to see if I could find a native v 1.50. After searching for 3 whole minutes I run across a primo mint condition v1.51 PSP. Needless to say I upgraded to v2.80 then downgraded to v1.50 only to re-upgrade to 3.40 OE-A.

Life is good my comrades. But anywho I actually have a question, sort of a "hacking" question mind you, is there any way (mind you I have just a small bit of programming knowledge under my belt) alter saves for psp games. I mean I've been off the psp scene for quite sometime and I haven't really been keeping current events.

Thanks in advanced for the input.

Well I can't think of anything like hacking the gamesaves easily, right off the bat (saves are signed), but why not use the CWCheat plug in ?
It's really like an AR code engine, with the ability to make memory dumps (to search for codes)... I only used it for 2/3 games, but it worked like a charm. Doing so you'll alter the game, and if you save, you'll "alter" the save as well (lot of money, unlock everything...).

Btw, I hope you know that but OE is "dead", go for M33 (3.52-3) nowadays.

Hmm, mind posting a link or maybe some supplimental information? I mean I used to be big on the psp homebrew scene about 2 years ago back when it first started, so I did my best and used my google-fu and found OE-A as my first search article. I decided to go with it because it had a fairly nice "HOWTO" guide and I upgraded to it without a hitch.

If there is a simple way to upgrade to M33 without doing another -> downgrade -> upgrade process I would gladly go through it.

Thanks for the input so far.

I always go to maxconsole to get such stuff, but I think every place should have them.
You'll have to upgrade to M33-52 (you can do it from your OE firmware, no need to downgrade), then apply the patch for M33-52-4 (yeah, there was a 4th upgrade actually).

Thanks kenobi, I finished upgrading not to long ago and it was indeed worth it.

I thank you deeply for your help and input.
