Title: The Alpha and Omega
Every time I try to start up Renegade64.exe v1.68, the following messages shows up.

"Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

I've searched through the forum and one member posted a solution, albeit, one that is not thoroughly explained.

User: HyperHacker said

"1) Move it to \windows\system32
2) regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx"

In this thread.

A solution would be appreciated. Although, looking at the site this seem pointless, because it looks as though the site has been abandoned. But I digress, help me out please.

After some more research into the matter, I have solved my own problem.

For anyone else with this error, here is the solution, that worked for me anyways.

First determine whether you have a 32-bit system, or a 64-bit system. For those that don't know how, go to Control Panel>System, open that and look at the what it says under System type. Now you know what operating system you are running.

Next go to where you have Renegade, and in the Renegade directory, right-click on the comdlg32.ocx and select copy.

For 32-bit systems -
Navigate to C:windows\system32
And paste comdlg32.ocx

For 64-bit systems -
Navigate to C:windows\sysWOW64
and paste comdlg32.ocx

Now go to Start, and seach cmd. Command Prompt should show up, now here is an important part, right-click and select Run as Administrator.

Now that Command Prompt is running. It should say something along the lines of -
C:\windows\system32>
(I am running a 32-bit system, so I am unsure as to whether it says "C:\windows\sysWOW64>" on a 64-bit system)

Now type in
regsvr32 wmnetmgr.dll
Press enter.
Now type in
regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx

So your Command Prompt should look like this

C:\windows\system32>regsvr32 wmnetmgr.dll
C:\windows\system32>regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx

And that's it. You can now run Renegade. Hope this helped anyone, and don't bother asking me questions, because I know nothing of computers. I picked up this knowledge by researching it, something more of you should try.

Windows is such a harsh wasteland of an environment to work in. :(

Thanks for the additional information!
