For some time now, GSHI and select members of the scene have been working, in secret, on something tentatively called Project Artemis: a PS2 hacking system. Details, and the original thread, can be found here: http://gshi.org/vb/showthread.php?t=3153

Apologies to KW staff if this seems too advertisement...ish. I will, of course, submit to whatever forum rules there are in place, if I've broken any.

Anyway, feel free to drop by the initial thread :)

Title: The Mad Hacker
Man, I wish I wasn't so damn busy right now!

Hacking PS2 would be so much fun and I'd love to add PS2 to my website. hehe

I seriously wish I had the time to look into this more. ;(

Good luck with it. :)

Yes, initially. It will grow into something more like an incredibly advanced GSPro, in later versions.

Thanks to Parasyte pointing out BountySource and the concept behind it, Project Artemis now has a BountySource account (though it's brand new and relatively empty): https://artemis.bountysource.com/

I will be adding tasks and bounties soon. If someone accomplishes a given task, they will receive whatever amount of money has been assigned as the bounty for that task. Also, people will be able to donate whatever they can spare to whatever task(s) they like, via PayPal.

We will likely be utilizing their SVN rather than ours, for consistency (and because they've already implemented WebSVN, heh).

I hope that works out for you.

We probably won't be using BountySource (or any kind of code bounties) for the debugger UI, or any project that might come about. At least, I can't see us making use of it. I might make some exceptions, but the excuse will have to be really good.

Also, the great majority of our regulars (like yours, I imagine) are unfamiliar with the ecosystem of a free software project. So these things will be quite a learning experience for everyone.

Well anyway, I need to [re]install Bugzilla, now.

Here's the post you wanted...a long time ago.

Looks like you've got competition in the laziness department.

Quote:
After using Cheat Engine so much for both debugging games and the emulators I run them on, I've come up with lots of ideas for features that the GUI layer should have. Things like only doing aligned searches. Why should it be able to search for a 32 bit value that isn't 32 bit aligned? When would that ever help? String searches, maybe, but that's what string searches are for, not 32 bit value searches. Just the first example; a real obvious one.

Also: bit masked searches.

In spite of "coming up with lots of ideas", since I never wrote any down, those are all I can come up with at the moment.
