My wireless card won't connect to any router, but after restarting my computer it works fine. Do I need a new wireless card, or can it be fixed?

It would really help us more if you could tell us the kind of computer you have, the model of your wireless card, and the router you are trying to connect to. Leaving it at what you said leaves too many possibilities.

He has a Dell Demension E510 running Windows XP Media Center Edition, Dell Wireless 1450, WRT54G v.6 firmware 2.02. He can't connect to his neighbor's router either.

Has he checked for WEP/WPA, DHCP, SSID broadcasting, or anything else that might cause it to not work?

The wireless card is about a year old. His router is on the default settings, but he can't connect to other routers either. I know it's not a problem with any of the routers because I brought my MacBook over there and I got online with no problems.
