Title: Mario Kart 64 Hacker
I'm curious if anyone ever hacked this thing (or if it had the ability built in) to download and execute code over USB. Or even if anyone ever found out how to work the USB port. Especially if it can boot without a cartridge and download a small program over USB, that could be quite useful.

Yes. At one time I was working on a ROM replacement for the GSA hardware. I had code written to flash the thing from the GBA slot (using the flash advance writer thing, for example, or a GBA running a special multi-boot ROM, etc...)

I also experimented with the USB registers, which were very simple to use. So simple, that the act of sending and receiving data on the PC side took more of a miracle. But not believing in miracles, I never finished it. And I don't know if I even kept backups of the project. Because I cannot seem to find them. But apparently my old HDD is still intact since I removed it two years ago. Maybe I'll find it on there, later.
