How to use
Button 2 cycles through this transformation list:
  1. <Currently loaded transformation> (when inside the observatory)
  2. Fire Mario*
  3. Flying Mario*
  4. Rainbow Mario*
  5. Ice Mario**
  6. Bee Mario**
  7. Spring Mario**
  8. Boo Mario**

* These transformations are loaded by default. They are always usable.
** Enabled by default when outside the observatory. To enable one of these transformations inside the observatory, select it and exit/enter a dome.

Button 1 applies/unapplies the selected transformation if it is loaded. Holding button 2 and then pressing button 1 resets the selected transformation to the currently loaded transformation (the beginning of the transformation list). Reseting the selected transformation will not affect which transformation will be loaded on next area exit/enter.

ChangeLog
1.1.1 Reduced code length by 5 lines.
1.1 Transformations code no longer affects transformations that are done normally with a power-up. Also, you can now disable transformation enhancements (infinite time with transformation, infinite bee flight, no power-up music) by holding button 2 and pressing button 1 twice.
1.0 Enabled all transformations in all areas except the observatory. Added infinite bee flight.
0.9 Major code rewrite. All the known issues I could reproduce were fixed. The code now forces Rainbow Mario to load by default.
0.5.1 Fixed an issue which caused Fire Mario and Flying Mario to freeze the game when used early in the game.
0.5 Initial Release

Mario Transformations Code updated to v0.9. Rainbow Mario now loads by default and the code detects when transformations are loaded by the game (allowing you to use the transformations the game loads in addition to the one you have selected to load). And yes, I will port this to the PAL version of the game within the next few days.

Does that affect Mario's speed in general, or does it only work for certain statuses like "running" or "running and jumping"?

I really hope it works with flying.

Also, I'm glad to see you updated the transformation code, because version 1.0 was causing the game not to boot.

Yes, I confirmed that myself. I also confirmed that 7 times speed doesn't let you run (you just skitter really slowly) unless you're on a slope, in which case the sheer speed propels you into any nearby abyss...es. Abysses? Right...

Anyway, yeah, flying around within the various galaxies with the transformation code and 7 times speed is exhilarating, but it would be nice if I didn't get gobbled up by black holes when entering a new gravitational field.

I don't suppose you can do something about that? If I had a Gecko I'd take care of it myself, but I haven't gotten around to ordering one yet.

I've been thinking, increased star bit firing speed (rapid fire, I suppose) and the ability to do what player 2's wiimote cursor does with player 1's would be neat codes.

Yes, I'm aware those sound like code requests, except unlike a request I don't actually expect anyone to make those codes (I was going to do it myself after getting a Gecko >.>) but it would be nice if you considered the black hole thing.

I updated the Mario Transformations code, it has been shortened by 5 lines. I also made the Skeleton Mario and Moon Jump codes each 1 line shorter.

I don't really mind requests, they give me something to hack. But there is of course no guarantee that I'll hack requests.

Hey brkirch, do you have any info on how to get the addresses of Mario/Luigi's coordinates?

I can't set a break on read of them if I don't know where they are.

I found something that looked like them near the air value that you disabled overwriting with your Infinite Air code, but I'm not entirely sure that they're the values I'm looking for.

I really want to get that "Can't be sucked in by black holes" code done.

Unfortunately, I don't know what to do about the issues with using the code as-is. I've only outlined a vague solution.

I need more addresses of things like input or a way of identifying whose position is being read at the above PCs.

Something tells me existing codes already have the info I need, but of course, without any comments in the source (or the source, for that matter) it'll be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Since it just NOPs the Z and X position reads of your character responsible for the collision instead of feeding them dummy values, the code doesn't exactly work perfectly. I think dying and thereby changing your spawn location alters which black holes you can and can't pass through (sometimes).

On some levels, you can pass through all the black holes. In others, you can only pass through a few.

As well, in some levels, the "you're too far from where you're supposed to be so you must have fallen to your death" logic activates and kills you should you fly even just a bit away from the "planet" you're on. Deactivating the code to bypass this issue is easy enough. Note that the activator and deactivator button combos require no other buttons to be pressed simultaneously. While I'm not a fan of reading input this way, I made an exception in this case as I felt that the code isn't something you want to switch on and off so easily.

Anyway, enjoy (and note that the "bee" levels are especially good for this code ;)).

How to use
Button 2 cycles through this transformation list:
1. <Currently loaded transformation> (when inside the observatory)
2. Fire Mario*
3. Flying Mario*
4. Rainbow Mario*
5. Ice Mario**
6. Bee Mario**
7. Spring Mario**
8. Boo Mario**
* These transformations are loaded by default. They are always usable.
** Enabled by default when outside the observatory. To enable one of these transformations inside the observatory, select it and exit/enter a dome.
Button 1 applies/unapplies the selected transformation if it is loaded. Holding button 2 and then pressing button 1 resets the selected transformation to the currently loaded transformation (the beginning of the transformation list). Reseting the selected transformation will not affect which transformation will be loaded on next area exit/enter.

1.1 Transformations code no longer affects transformations that are done normally with a power-up. Also, you can now disable transformation enhancements (infinite time with transformation, infinite bee flight, no power-up music) by holding button 2 and pressing button 1 twice.

0.9 Major code rewrite. All the known issues I could reproduce were fixed. The code now forces Rainbow Mario to load by default.
